The Hotel BEATUS
The BEATUS Wellness- & Spa-Hotel is located directly on the shores of Lake Thun in Merligen, on the sunny side of the Bernese Oberland. With 277 metres of direct lake frontage, it boasts the longest private lakeshore of any wellness hotel in Switzerland. In other words, you step out of the hotel and find yourself right by the water.
At the heart of the experience are a 12,000 m² park with a private sandy beach, a 35°C outdoor saltwater pool, the Bamboo sauna landscape and three restaurants. None of these amenities comes at an extra charge – everything is included from the moment you arrive.
BEATUS is a place for people who need one, two or three nights to get back on track.
Merligen is located 12 km from both Thun and Interlaken and is easily accessible by train, car or scheduled boat service. The hotel even has its own landing stage: the MS BEATUS II connects BEATUS directly with Lake Thun.

Park and beach
12,000 square metres between hotel and lake. A private sandy beach, beach chairs, sunbathing lawns, a boat dock – and right beside it, a 35°C outdoor saltwater pool that blends seamlessly into Lake Thun. Spend an hour paddleboarding on the lake in the morning. Drift in the saltwater pool at midday. Dine outdoors in the evening while the Alps are reflected in the water. BEATUS gives your weekend its own rhythm – one that has nothing to do with everyday life.

Pioneer of sustainability
Lake Thun is a place of power. The location of our hotel directly on its shores brings with it responsibility. That is why we are environmentally conscious and as sustainable as possible. We heat the wellness facilities and a large part of the hotel with our own lake water heat pump. This makes the Hotel BEATUS one of the pioneers in the industry.
Hospitality by tradition
BEATUS history
There was already an inn on the site of the current building in 1628. This comes as no surprise: the location on Lake Thun and the Alpine backdrop are perfect for welcoming guests. The current hotel building dates back to the 1960s and has been continuously extended and renovated ever since.
